lyrics

Sitting by myself at a liar's bar.
Over walked a woman with her face in a jar.
Juggling her thoughts, trying to connect.
She said, I don't want you thinking I ain't got any respect.
Working undercover for the FBI.
You better come with me if you don't wanna die.

This is kinda crazy, this girl ain't right.
But it beats staying here on a Saturday night.
I asked her where we're going, oh please pray tell.
When she pulled out a picture of a Liberty Bell.
Pointed to the stars, looking at a map.
She said we can take the long way in case it is a trap.

I still wasn't so sure what was fully going on.
Is she on a mission or is it all a con?
We jumped into a taxi, headed to the east.
To meet a political prisoner who was recently released.
Gave us information in a secret envelope.
He said it's all up to you now, you're our only hope.

I burst out laughing, took it with a pinch of salt.
When a bullet blew his head off like a lightning bolt.
We ducked for cover and we ran a bloody mile.
She turned to me with a wink and a smile.
Now do you believe me? Why I was sent to meet you?
I'm a superstitious spy and my name is Rita.

I was in a state of shock, I was still half cut.
We were onto something big, I could feel it in my gut.
So I followed her to Moscow where we broke into a bank.
Then we were surrounded and they threw us in the tank.
Down at the jailhouse we were locked up tight.
But we overtook the guards and escaped in the night.

I was on the run with Rita, lost looking for a sign.
Laying low and hiding out at the old coal mine.
Morning came around, we were ready to hit the road.
To try and track a target that they told us would explode.
After solving all the mysteries and cracking all the clues
We'd earned our stripes and we paid our dues.

I was dropped off in a limousine back at the bar.
Thinking to myself how I'd got this far.
I've been shot at and arrested, I'm lucky to be alive.
Now I must try and fit into the normal nine while five.
I often think of Rita but I doubt she thinks of me.
After all I'm only case file 303.
